Jelmer Geertsma maakte een aantal bijzondere portretten van zijn familieleden. Hij rangschikte een groot aantal elementen die te maken hebben met hobbies of werk uit hun levens.

We blijven nog heel even in de sneeuw. Kwam deze leuke verzameling oude foto's van sneeuwpoppen tegen. Daar kan die van ons niet tegenop.

De oudste foto van een mens

Ik kwam deze bijzondere foto tegen. De foto is gemaakt in een straat in Parijs is 1838 en is (een van de) eerste foto's met een mens erop. Het grappige is dat het eigenlijk een hele drukke dag is. Maar omdat er een sluitertijd is gebruikt van meer dan 10 minuten zie je alleen één man die stil stond.

"Boulevard du Temple, Paris, IIIe arrondissement, Daguerreotype. The purportedly first picture of a living person. The image shows a busy street, but due to exposure time of more than ten minutes, the traffic was moving too much to appear. The exception is the man at the bottom left, who stood still getting his boots polished long enough to show. Look closely and you will also see another man sitting on a bench to the right reading a newspaper. Also in the upper left hand side you can also see another man standing under the awning of the 3rd building from the left. What looks to be a woman standing under the street lantern at 10 o'clock from the man getting his shoes shined and another one in the big white building,1st row 3rd window down. Interessant werk van 25 jarige footgraaf Liu Di. In de serie 'Animal Regulation' plaatste hij dieren in verschillende stedelijke omgevingen.

Tokyo Compression

Fotograaf Michael Wolf fotografeerde de serie Tokyo Compression.

"In this series, he aims his camera at captive passengers pressed against the windows of the crammed Tokyo subway. The density is no longer architectural but human, as commuters fill every available square inch of these subway cars. As with Architecture of Density Wolf uses a ‘no exit’ photographic style, trapping the gaze of the viewer within the frame just as the passengers are unable to escape the confinement of these temporary cells. The images create a sense of discomfort as his victims attempt to squirm out of view or simply close their eyes, wishing the photographer to go away. Tokyo Compression depicts an urban hell and by hunting down these commuters with his camera, Wolf highlights their complete vulnerability to the city at its most extreme." (bron: wikipedia)
